Over 50,000 protective masks manufactured and distributed

Our story began in early March of 2020, when the staffers at local area hospitals and other front-line workers faced a shortage of protective face masks. A local group of Kentucky moms, calling themselves Helping Healthcare Heroes (H3) were calling their friends to help get volunteers to assist in their efforts to make and distribute cloth masks. H3 mobilized to distribute over 2,000 of these masks. As they found the need for high quality, medical grade masks was much greater than they initially realized, they reached out for more help and 502cares was established.

Knowing the increased demand for high-quality, filtered masks 502cares enlisted the help of Crossroads Missions, a mission focused non-profit and CRG Automation, a design and manufacturing company. As a team, we were able to manufacture and distribute over 50,000 protective medical masks to healthcare and frontline workers!

Crossroads Missions contributed to the design and prototyping as well as retooling it’s commercial embroidery equipment to manufacture the first edition masks. CRG Automation was instrumental in furthering the product design and development to include ultrasonic welding as well as quality control, supply chain management and distribution efforts.

502cares would like to thank all of our supporters and volunteers who made this monumental effort a success!
